Alex R

Alex R creates glass which is opulent and seductive. From small glass vessels to large scale installations of glittering glass, intricate surfaces are the signature style of her work. The material itself provides the starting point and she takes her cues from there, revelling in richly layered colour and elaborate surface textures. Each piece explores the magical qualities of glass, a medium which delights the eye and invites the sense of touch.

Since establishing her studio in 2005, Alex has gone from strength to strength working on glass projects for both public and private clients. Her work has won various accolades and prizes (First prize, Stevens Competition for Architectural Glass; shortlisted, Art and Work Awards; Best Glass in Architectural Application, Pearsons Prize; Best Glass in Interiors, Pearsons Prize; Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award) and in March 2010 she had her debut solo show at the Menier Gallery in London.

Alex teaches residential courses in kiln formed glass at the highly respected West Dean College in West Sussex, as well as teaching privately from her own studio.
